RFID (radio frequency identification) is an automatic identification technology. RFID tags are used in place of barcodes in a number of industries. More and more retailers are turning to this technology for stock control, inventory and anti-theft tracking.

Now, these same RDIF tags can be a sales support tool, as RFID tagged products can interact with a digital signage display. When the item is picked up it triggers the display to show information about that item, such as colours, sizes, price, availability in store or videos to tell the story about the product.

Similarly, NFC technology (near field communication) prompts the content on the screen when the NFC tag is placed over a NFC reader.
